WebAble

Making the web readable, safe, and inclusive for everyone, one tab at a time.

A browser accessibility layer built for real daily use. ASL-to-text from camera/screen, TTS, dyslexia support, epilepsy-safe protection, color-blind modes, voice control, and live subtitles.

7 core features

1) ASL-to-Text: camera + screen source switching

WebAble recognizes ASL fingerspelling and builds words in real-time. You can use webcam mode for direct signing or switch to screen mode to monitor a shared video/call window.

  • Webcam by default
  • One-click “Screen” switch in ASL toolbar
  • Send recognized text directly to Chat Reader/TTS

2) Text-to-Speech Chat Reader

The built-in reader speaks messages aloud for users who prefer listening over reading or who are non-verbal in live sessions.

  • Language selection inside popup
  • Mute/unmute button in the Chat Reader panel
  • Works with ASL output + chat/caption text streams

3) Dyslexia-Friendly Reading Layer

Transforms dense pages into a more readable format through typography and spacing improvements that reduce visual crowding.

  • OpenDyslexic font option (a font designed to make similar letters easier to distinguish)
  • Calmer spacing and layout adjustments
  • Designed to reduce reading fatigue on long pages

4) Epilepsy-Safe Harm Reduction

Reduces motion risk by suppressing flashing animations, blocking GIF loops, and scanning video luminance changes to detect possible risky flicker.

  • Animation suppression
  • GIF replacement behavior
  • Adjustable sensitivity (1–10)

5) Color-Vision Accessibility Modes

Users can instantly apply palette adjustments designed for common types of color blindness to improve color separation and readability.

  • Default
  • Deuteranopia / Protanopia / Tritanopia presets
  • Instant visual update per page

6) Voice Control

Voice control lets users control accessibility features without depending fully on mouse/keyboard input.

  • Hands-free interaction support
  • Can help users with motor or speech-related accessibility needs
  • Built to simplify feature control during live browsing

7) Live Subtitles

Shows live caption overlays for spoken content to support deaf and hard-of-hearing users during calls, videos, and meetings.

  • On-screen subtitle overlay
  • Helps follow speech in real time
  • Useful for meetings and media playback
